C'mon guys. That's stupid humor. If they really wanted to be funny, they should have composed it on a deeper level, appealing to those who really know chess and the inane tactics and strategies people use.

I would have had something like Bush bringing his Queen out too early and then getting it trapped on the wrong side of the board -- a tactical blunder. I would have had Kerry mixing moves from a King side and Queen side attack -- a strategic blunder. Or something like that for each of them.

I think Bush's early excavation of his "towers" is a pretty common beginner strategy.

You've got a point, but I'm on the UMBC chess team and I found it funny enough. The analysis is where the real gems lie.
