Last Saturday and Sunday, Angela Hewitt, Andre Laplante, and Louis Lortie gave 2 sold-out performances with Peter Oundjian and the Toronto Symphony Orchestra at Roy Thomson Hall in Toronto, performing the Mozart Concero No.7 for Three Pianos on three Fazioli concert grands. This helped mark the appointment of Robert Lowery's Piano Experts as Fazioli's first Canadian distributor.

As well, Hewitt and Lortie played the Mozart Concero No.10 in E-flat Major for Two Piano; K.365, and Laplante performed the Concerto No.9 in E-flat Major; K.271.

Performances and pianos are very favorably reviewed by Classical Music Critic William Littler in today's Toronto Star. For anyone with a lot of patience the article can be found at: www.thestar.com . (Click on A&E and then scroll down to "A grand time had by pianists hailing Mozart at 249".) Unfortunately the downloads are very slow and you must register (free) to access the article.

This seems an encouraging departure from Steinway's grip on North American concert stages.
